Q: Do I get a rental vehicle until you settle my claim?
A: There is a max 30 days up to $600 under UU's rental car protection for a theft until the car is repaired or until an offer is made for a total loss.

Q: If I hit a pothole and it does damage, is that covered?
A: Yes, it would be a collision claim.

Q: When should I consider dropping these coverages?
A: When the cost of the premium is not equitable to the value of the car - we suggest you start reviewing this ratio when the car is about 10 years old. You can review the actual cash value of your car on websites like Kelly Blue Book (www.kbb.com).

Q: How does ACV work? Why are engine, radio, tires, etc depreciated?
A: Actual cash value is what it would cost to put you back into a car like your own with similar features, mileage and condition. Depreciation is based on the life expectancy of items like tires, etc.

Q: Why can't I have replacement value protection?
A: Replacement value protection is now available. Ownership and timeline of purchase can affect availability.

Q: Why don't the rates go down as my car becomes older and is worth less?
A: Because it costs just as much to repair the car but more importantly the 50% to value balance tips with the advancement of our car's age. That means when you have a $2500 bumper replaced on a $25,000 truck, the loss is just the $2500; but if you have a $2500 bumper replaced on a $3800 car, the car is totaled because the loss is greater than 50% of the car's value. Then the loss is $3800 not $2500.
