Coverage CC & VA (Medical Payments and Personal Injury Protection)

Return to FAQs

Q: Which one or how much of both should I have?
A: If you have sick time, disability or medical leave plan at work, you may only want the MedPay option which does not include coverage for loss of wages and is less expensive than PIP (that does include wages). It's most important that you discuss you needs to ensure coverage is specific to your situation.

Q: Does PIP protection of $2,500 mean I can collect $2,500 regardless of the amount of my bills?
A: No. Only legitimate bills are paid after review by a licensed claims adjuster.

Q: Do I need either of these at all?
A: Depending on your employer's leave policy or maybe you're retired - all factors should be considered. However, if you choose to reject PIP, there is a legal document required by the State of Texas to not include the PIP coverge. No such form is required to reject the MedPay.
